Technical Solutions 

As a complementary activity to the consensus activities, the project has also researched how technology could be used to automate the process of NTD. The study identifies the functional requirements that would be needed for the automation of an NTD procedure and the appropriate technologies that would fulfil these functions. Finally, the study looks at how the various technologies could be deployed collectively to provide an automated NTD process.  

The technology research concluded that a considerable amount of effort would be required to provide interoperability across the different systems that might be employed in an automated NTD process.  Even then, some form of human subjective judgement would be  required in the process although technology could be deployed to assist those judgements.
